I Will Deliver, Rain, Snow, Anything Short of a Tornado
Reflective Essay

Introduction
Alameda Community Learning Center is a school that cannot be loosely compared to any other school. This school contains quite possibly the most unique, interesting, and odd people I have met in my life. Walking into ACLC for the first day, I had no idea the adventurous events that would ensue.

Personal Qualities, Work Habits, and Attitudes
Personal Qualities? I feel like I’m filling out an EHarmony profile. Well, as you can see I am one of those guys who think he is funny and sometimes not. I try to consider myself nice, and generally a good person, but I also have self esteem that can use a lot of boosting. I love animals, Tattoos, and the subject of English, more specifically Creative Writing and Poetry. I have a big problem with procrastination, but I pride myself on when I start working I don’t stop until it’s done. The whole reason you are reading this essay is because I am bad at essays. I think I let my creativeness flow too much, and I stray away from formalities. But I’ve always kept a determined mindset about my work. When I want something done, I won’t stop until it’s done. I also pride myself on being a good team member. I always work well with groups because I consider myself a social worker. Perfect for ACLC.

New Basics
At a younger age I displayed good skill in the four core subjects, (English, Math, History, and Science). But as Math complexes, My understanding of it does as well. Math is by far my least favorite subject and I struggle with even the most basic mathematics. It started as a young age by which I believe was horrible teaching. When I was young I got very ill, and had to be hospitalized for a couple weeks, in which I missed a lot of school. Upon returning, my mathematics teacher was very reluctant in showing me the vital steps I’d missed. This started a pattern of uncomfortable failure in my mathematical evolution. I excelled in English because I’ve always liked to write. I found it relaxing, and have always liked reading books that were necessary in English classes. I am pretty good in History, all kinds, because to me it’s like reading stories. I also feel we as people have a lot to learn from people in our past. Science has always been interesting to me, as long as there wasn’t math involved, particularly the study of animals.

Thinking and Reasoning Skills
Apparently male minds work in a systematic, almost factory like way. I’ve always found this intriguing, and applied it to myself because I think that I think that way. But it’s interesting because I also know that I think in a very expressive and creative way. I seem to favor situations in which I can use creativity to accomplish the tasks ahead. For example; I’d rather do a poster on something, than write something on it. In fact, I’d rather do three posters. If I am presented with a problem, I like to approach it from all angles, taking my time to ensure I solve the problem correctly without leaving error in my path. Although I know that is the way I think, I know sometimes I drift far from this, which can be a problem, and leave me contradicting myself.

Interpersonal and Collaborative Ability
ACLC is a school that is mainly focused on a social interaction between younger and older learners. I’ve always considered myself social, and for the most part, have always gotten along with all my siblings. I’ve always liked children, in fact, I am a Coach at the Bladium Sports and Fitness club. I coach little kids in a program called Little Kickers, which is not a soccer club, but a child development program. I’ve always wanted to be a teacher, and so working with young ones has been something I can see myself doing, even though I want to teach at a High School Level. I’m a team worker, I don’t boss people around but I’ll take the initiative to step up and name my self leader with fierce determination to get it done.

Technology
I like technology. This started when I received my first Playstation as a child. It fascinated me how I could move the controller, and instantly the technology held the intellectual power to move what was on the screen. For a long time, I wanted to be a video game designer and engineer graphics for video games. I wanted to be the person who made you go “Oh my gosh! Look at those graphics!” I’m a big computer person, although I wasn’t at first. At first, I was overwhelmed by the pure power of the computer, and the internet in itself. It all seemed too smart, compared to my simple Playstation. But as my brother became more acquainted with computers, I learned a basic mastery of them. I like them now, and if someone has trouble with them, I try my best to help.

Conclusion
In conclusion, I moved here from San Diego, and could not hope for a better place to live. I love the Bay Area, and I love Alameda. I am so happy that I decided to go to ACLC because in all honesty it’s the best school I have ever gone to. Anywhere else, I wouldn’t receive the booming education that I have, while having a personal connection with the facilitators and my peers around me. I have made the best friends at this school, and wouldn’t trade the connections I have with them for the world. All these bolded subjects above have been my tools I’ve used at ACLC, and I’ve built myself a sturdy education and a strong base building for my college and future life.
